For anyone who has ever felt like they don't belong, Sigh, Gone
shares an irreverent, funny, and moving tale of displacement and
assimilation woven together with poignant themes from beloved works
of classic literature. In 1975, during the fall of Saigon, Phuc
Tran immigrates to America along with his family. By sheer chance
they land in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, a small town where the Trans
struggle to assimilate into their new life. In this coming-of-age
memoir told through the themes of great books such as The
Metamorphosis, The Scarlet Letter, The Iliad, and more, Tran
navigates the push and pull of finding and accepting himself
despite the challenges of immigration, feelings of isolation, and
teenage rebellion, all while attempting to meet the rigid
expectations set by his immigrant parents. Appealing to fans of
coming-of-age memoirs such as Fresh Off the Boat, Running with
Scissors, or tales of assimilation like Viet Thanh Nguyen's The
Displaced and The Refugees, Sigh, Gone explores one man's
bewildering experiences of abuse, racism, and tragedy and reveals
redemption and connection in books and punk rock. Against the
hairspray-and-synthesizer backdrop of the '80s, he finds solace and
kinship in the wisdom of classic literature, and in the subculture
of punk rock, he finds affirmation and echoes of his disaffection.
In his journey for self-discovery Tran ultimately finds refuge and
inspiration in the art that shapes--and ultimately saves--him.
Pando is an inspiring tribute to a grove of quaking Aspen trees in
Utah in the United States which are connected by their roots to
form one of the world's oldest and largest living things. Author
Kate Allen Fox engages readers’ senses to help convey the
vastness of Pando, the challenges it faces, and how we all can be
part of the solution. With lyrical poetry, Fox summarizes the
science, action and compassion needed to save this wonder of
nature.

This deliciously spooky, yearningly romantic ghost story from a
brilliant debut author will thrill fans of Kalynn Bayron and Wilder
Girls by Rory Power. Jade Nguyen has always lied to fit in. She's
straight enough, Vietnamese enough, American enough - at least for
this summer with her estranged father in Vietnam. Just five weeks
of ignoring the quietly decaying French colonial house he's fixing
up, then college and freedom are hers. But soon Jade begins waking
up every morning certain that something has clawed down her throat
... from the inside. Then the ghost of a beautiful bride visits her
with a cryptic warning: DON'T EAT. When her father and little
sister don't believe her, Jade decides to scare them into leaving
by staging some haunting events of her own. She recruits Florence,
the daughter of her dad's business associate (and more of a
distraction than Jade bargained for) to help. But the house has
other plans. It's hungry. A home, after all, is only as powerful as
those who breathe new life into its bones. And this one is
determined never to be abandoned again ...
The first East Asia Summit in 2005 prompted discussions of
enlargement of ASEAN free trade agreements to include all major
trading blocs and their regional and global implications. In this
timely and original study, Tran Van Hoa and Charles Harvie explore
the likely effects of new regional development. With more than half
of the world's consumption and production market, well-defined
trade agreements in Asia remain crucial to the economic growth and
stability of the area. This book contains scholarly and
well-researched contributions from internationally renowned experts
from ASEAN, East and South Asia and Oceania who discuss this major
new development and its impact on trade, investment, services,
development, industry, poverty and economic relations. An important
collection of new research, this volume will be used by economists,
trade experts, academics, students, government advisers,
policymakers and all those interested in these significant
contemporary developments and their far-ranging implications in an
enlarged Asia.

Weekly 'A testament to queer self-love ... a monument to [what]

labyrinth of a book' Electric Literature This is a book about
survival. This is a book about love. Visceral and astonishing, Paul
Tran's debut poetry collection, All the Flowers Kneeling, charts
the rebuilding of a self in the wake of extremity. How, it asks,
can we reimagine what we have been given in order to make something
new: an identity, a family, a life, a dream? These rich, resonant
poems of desire, freedom, control and rebirth reach back into the
past - the tale of Scheherazade, US imperial violence, a shattering
history of personal abuse - to show how it both scars and
transforms. Innovative poetic forms mirror the nonlinear
experiences of trauma survivors, while ambitious sequences probe
our systems of knowledge-making and the power of storytelling as
survival. At once virtuosic and vulnerable, confessional and
profoundly defiant, All the Flowers Kneeling revels in
rediscovering and reconfiguring the self, and ultimately becomes an
essential testament to the human capacities for resilience,
endurance and love.

This book examines recent key findings on the mechanisms of axonal
and dendritic remodeling in different model organisms. Each chapter
is contributed by a panel of experts in their respective subfields
of neurosciences, to provide and discuss the latest discoveries
ranging from neuronal morphogenesis during development,
experience-dependent structural plasticity, to neuronal
degeneration, regeneration, and pathologies in neurological
disorders. The process of neuronal remodeling, specifically their
axons and dendrites, is essential for the proper wiring of the
nervous system during early development and continues during
postnatal ages to shape the pattern of synaptic connections
throughout the life of the organism, including humans. Over recent
years, substantial progress has been made in our understanding of
the cellular and molecular mechanisms that control neuronal
remodeling. In addition, there is accumulating evidence
demonstrating how the nervous system could remodel in response to
injury and in pathological conditions. Topics discussed in the book
include: Axonal degeneration during development and in pathological
or disease conditions Neuronal morphogenesis (axons and dendrites)
Experience-dependent structural plasticity to synaptogenesis
Dendrite degeneration and regeneration

Seeking help is hard. Dope Therapy makes it easier. For many
people, there is fear and stigma associated with entering the
therapy room. Maybe you've been told that going to therapy means
something is wrong with you. Maybe you don't know what to expect.
Even if you recognize the benefits of seeking help, it can feel
scary and unknown to take that first step. If you've thought about
therapy but don't know where to start, or if you've tried therapy
in the past but it hasn't helped, Dope Therapy is for you. With
humor and compassion, author and therapist Shani Tran validates the
anxiety that can arise around seeking counseling and offers
guidance for navigating the uncomfortable conversations that can
come up in therapy. She is with you each step of the way, from
finding the right therapist to determining when you've reached the
end of your therapy journey. Get answers to your questions,
including: * Why isn't therapy working? * What if I don't want to
take medication? * How do I deal with all these feelings? * What
will happen if I tell my therapist that I'm having suicidal
thoughts? * How do I break up with my therapist? "What a breath of
fresh air! This book lays out everything you need to know about
therapy and how to navigate it - especially if you are BIPOC,
queer, or young. Finally, a fun, accessible book that can guide
people to the help they need." -Ryan Schwartz, founder, Mental

In this book, Tran Van Hoa reveals how competition policy and
competitiveness are essential for contemporary economic, financial
and trade management as well as national and international
governance. Containing new in-depth studies of these issues and
their development, the book focuses on major Asian economies
encountering increasing globalisation and the prevailing influence
of the WTO. In major Asian economies, competition policy, while
being important for trade, development and growth, is nascent.
Competition Policy and Global Competitiveness in Major Asian
Economies surveys the fundamentals of competition policy and
investigates how, in practice, it has been developed in major
economies in the Asian region. It also contains previous lessons
and experiences in the formulation and implementation of
competition policy and the pitfalls that may be avoided in similar
future developments. Suggesting solutions in economic development
and policy reform for Asian economies in the face of increasing
globalisation and WTO membership requirements, this important book
will be of enormous interest to economic policymakers and advisers,
academics, government officials, business executives and tertiary
students.

and significant studies on China's trade and investment. The book
